Chicago\/Wesleyan\/JPL-Caltech<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"27\" data-block-id=\"10\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">O mapa tridimensional foi constru\u00eddo a partir dos dados de 1.339 estrelas chamadas cefeidas cl\u00e1ssicas, que t\u00eam brilho at\u00e9 100 mil vezes mais forte que o Sol.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"24\" data-block-id=\"11\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">As cefeidas s\u00e3o estrelas que pulsam de forma regular &#8211; as pulsa\u00e7\u00f5es podem ser observadas atrav\u00e9s de mudan\u00e7as no padr\u00e3o de brilho desses astros.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"40\" data-block-id=\"12\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Assim, combinando o per\u00edodo de pulsa\u00e7\u00e3o com as varia\u00e7\u00f5es no brilho \u00e9 poss\u00edvel estimar a dist\u00e2ncia de cada uma delas ao centro da Via L\u00e1ctea com um alto grau de precis\u00e3o &#8211; a margem de erro \u00e9 de aproximadamente 5%.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"4\" data-block-id=\"14\">\n<div class=\"content-intertitle\">\n<h2>Em forma de &#8216;S&#8217;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"37\" data-block-id=\"15\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">&#8220;Pensamos em geral que as gal\u00e1xias em espiral s\u00e3o bem planas, como a Andr\u00f4meda, que pode ser visualizada com facilidade de um telesc\u00f3pio&#8221;, destaca Richard de Grijs, astr\u00f4nomo Universidade de Macquarie e um dos autores do estudo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"23\" data-block-id=\"16\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">No mapa elaborado por De Grijs e seus colegas, contudo, o disco da Via L\u00e1ctea se retorce progressivamente quanto mais longe do centro.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"36\" data-block-id=\"17\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Isso se deve ao fato de que a for\u00e7a da gravidade \u00e9 mais fraca nas extremidades da gal\u00e1xia.
