O projeto foi anunciado recentemente pela empresa SunPower, uma das patrocinadoras da ideia.<\/p>\n<p>O acordo inclui o fornecimento de 300 GWk por ano de energia renov\u00e1vel obtida a partir do sol \u00e0 companhia de metr\u00f4 de Santiago. Com este projeto, o sistema de transporte p\u00fablico, que atende a 2,2 milh\u00f5es de passageiros diariamente, pode se tornar ainda mais sustent\u00e1vel.<\/p>\n<p>Para gerar esse montante de energia, a SunPower conta com o apoio da Total Energy, uma empresa parceira na constru\u00e7\u00e3o de uma usina solar de alta efici\u00eancia. O projeto El Pel\u00edcano deve produzir sozinho cem megawatts de energia. A constru\u00e7\u00e3o come\u00e7a ainda neste ano e est\u00e1 prevista para ser conclu\u00edda no final de 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEste contrato est\u00e1 expressando o compromisso do Chile com um mundo mais sustent\u00e1vel. Trata-se de um bloco modular totalmente integrado. O formato tem implementa\u00e7\u00e3o r\u00e1pida e de baixo custo, ideal para produzir energia limpa em grande escala, sem usar muito espa\u00e7o. A tecnologia ainda um processo de limpeza automatizado dos pain\u00e9is, que reduz em 75% a quantidade de \u00e1gua usada, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o aos tradicionais, e ainda melhora a efici\u00eancia
