[Imagem: UBC]<\/p>\n<p><\/em>O mais alto edif\u00edcio do mundo com a estrutura e a fachada externa feitas inteiramente de madeira entrou na fase final de acabamento. <\/p>\n<p>Engenheiros da Universidade da Col\u00fambia Brit\u00e2nica, no Canad\u00e1, anunciaram que o edif\u00edcio de madeira alcan\u00e7ou a impressionante marca de 53 metros de altura, tendo 18 andares &#8211; o recorde anterior para um pr\u00e9dio similar era de 14 andares. <\/p>\n<p>O edif\u00edcio tem um piso t\u00e9rreo de concreto e 17 andares de pisos de madeira laminada colados em colunas de madeira laminada. H\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m duas colunas centrais de concreto. O revestimento da fachada \u00e9 constitu\u00eddo em 70% por fibras de madeira. <\/p>\n<p>Constru\u00eddo em um prazo 70 dias menor do que o previsto inicialmente, o edif\u00edcio agora entrar\u00e1 na fase de acabamento, devendo estar pronto para ser ocupado em Maio do ano que vem. Ele funcionar\u00e1 como resid\u00eancia estudantil na universidade, abrigando 400 alunos. <\/p>\n<p>Laborat\u00f3rio vivo <\/p>\n<p>O pr\u00e9dio, considerado um &#8220;laborat\u00f3rio vivo&#8221; para a \u00e1rea de engenharia da universidade, foi constru\u00eddo com apoio da forte ind\u00fastria madeireira canadense, que busca novas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es para seus produtos.
