[Imagem: ICFOFabien Vialla]<\/p>\n<p><\/em><strong>Fotodetectores de grafeno <br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nPara explorar as muitas vantagens que o grafeno e demais materiais bidimensionais t\u00eam gra\u00e7as \u00e0 sua espessura at\u00f4mica, o trivial tem sido conectar eletrodos a essas folhas ultrafinas, de forma a injetar e ler os sinais. <\/p>\n<p>Mathieu Massicotte, do Instituto de Ci\u00eancias Fot\u00f4nicas, na Espanha, estabeleceu agora uma ponte direta entre o mundo 2D dessas nanoestruturas t\u00e3o promissoras e o mundo 3D, no qual todos esperam usufruir dos seus benef\u00edcios. <\/p>\n<p>Massicotte criou heteroestruturas verticais que permitem tirar proveito do efeito foto-termoi\u00f4nico ao longo de toda a folha de grafeno. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Todo o mundo sabe que \u00e9 poss\u00edvel detectar luz com o grafeno usando geometrias planares, mas o que acontece na dire\u00e7\u00e3o ortogonal? Para responder, voc\u00ea precisa pensar fora da caixa 2D,&#8221; brinca o professor Frank Koppens, coordenador do trabalho. <\/p>\n<p><strong>C\u00e2meras e telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>Os dispositivos criados pela equipe demonstraram que heteroestruturas feitas de grafeno e outros materiais, como a molibdenita, podem ser usadas para detectar f\u00f3tons de baixa energia que elevam drasticamente a efici\u00eancia de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es optoeletr\u00f4nicas, incluindo c\u00e2meras, espectr\u00f4metros de infravermelho e sistemas de telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es. <\/p>\n<p>Os componentes usam o grafeno para captar f\u00f3tons de baixa energia, gerados pela radia\u00e7\u00e3o infravermelha, que energizam el\u00e9trons do pr\u00f3prio grafeno. As barreiras verticais ent\u00e3o coletam apenas os chamados &#8220;el\u00e9trons quentes&#8221;, de energia mais elevada.
