A tecnologia faz uso de um filme transl\u00facido ligeiramente amarelado constitu\u00eddo por pol\u00edmeros que pode ser aplicado a v\u00e1rios tipos de superf\u00edcie (de vidros a pl\u00e1sticos e tecidos, por exemplo).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A energia solar \u00e9 armazenada por meio de um processo qu\u00edmico, e n\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de m\u00e9todos que se baseiam no uso de eletricidade. A chave \u00e9 uma mol\u00e9cula capaz de se manter est\u00e1vel mesmo quando submetida a configura\u00e7\u00f5es diferentes. Quando aquecida pela radia\u00e7\u00e3o solar, a mol\u00e9cula ativa seu \u201cmodo de carga\u201d e ent\u00e3o se mant\u00e9m est\u00e1vel por longos per\u00edodos de tempo.<\/p>\n<p>A libera\u00e7\u00e3o do calor acontece no momento em que a mol\u00e9cula atinge uma temperatura espec\u00edfica \u2013 \u201cela ent\u00e3o volta \u00e0 sua configura\u00e7\u00e3o inicial, desferindo uma rajada de calor\u201d, conforme explica o PhysOrg. Para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o do material foram usadas mol\u00e9culas de azobenzeno: v\u00e1rias camadas, uma a uma, tiveram de ser posicionadas de modo a formar uma folha fina.
