Um novo estudo da Universidade Estadual de Michigan (EUA) descobriu que alguns desses aditivos podem, na verdade, n\u00e3o fazer nada. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPl\u00e1stico biodegrad\u00e1vel\u201d \u00e9 um termo meio gen\u00e9rico, ent\u00e3o sejamos mais espec\u00edficos. Primeiro, temos os biopl\u00e1sticos, normalmente feitos a partir de materiais vegetais renov\u00e1veis. Depois, temos os pl\u00e1sticos feitos com petroqu\u00edmicos, mas com aditivos para acelerar sua degrada\u00e7\u00e3o na natureza \u2013 \u00e9 disso que o estudo est\u00e1 falando. <\/p>\n<p>Os pesquisadores testaram tr\u00eas aditivos em dois tipos comuns de pl\u00e1stico: o polietileno de baixa densidade, usado em sacos pl\u00e1sticos; e l\u00e2minas de PET, usado em recipientes de pl\u00e1stico. Em tese, os aditivos ajudariam a atrair micr\u00f3bios que devoram o pl\u00e1stico. <\/p>\n<p>Para testar isso, a equipe realizou diversos testes para simular diferentes condi\u00e7\u00f5es de aterros sanit\u00e1rios. Foram tr\u00eas cen\u00e1rios: condi\u00e7\u00f5es anaer\u00f3bicas, sem oxig\u00eanio, semelhante a estar enterrado em um grande aterro; misturado com adubo; e enterrado no solo por tr\u00eas anos. <\/p>\n<p>Em todos estes cen\u00e1rios, o pl\u00e1stico tratado com aditivos biodegrad\u00e1veis &#8203;&#8203;n\u00e3o se saiu melhor do que a variante sem aditivos. \u201cAssim, n\u00e3o foram encontradas evid\u00eancias de que esses aditivos promovem e\/ou melhoram a biodegrada\u00e7\u00e3o dos pol\u00edmeros PE ou PET\u201d, conclu\u00edram os autores. A pesquisa foi publicada no peri\u00f3dico Environmental Science and Technology. <\/p>\n<p>Um estudo anterior, de 2013, tamb\u00e9m concluiu que os pl\u00e1sticos biodegrad\u00e1veis &#8203;&#8203;com aditivos t\u00eam desempenho inexpressivo.
