Quer dizer, at\u00e9 agora: cientistas descobriram recentemente o que pode ser uma boa solu\u00e7\u00e3o \u2013 fios de carbono cheios de cera. <br \/>\nEsta tecnologia de m\u00fasculos artificiais foi desenvolvida por uma equipe de cientistas \u2013 incluindo dois brasileiros \u2013 na Universidade do Texas em Dallas (EUA). Ela \u00e9 centrada no uso de nanotubos de carbono. <\/p>\n<p>Os nanotubos ganham a forma de fios retorcidos (imagem acima), cujo volume \u00e9 preenchido com cera de vela. Quando exposto ao calor (ou \u00e0 tens\u00e3o el\u00e9trica), o fio se expande e contrai como um m\u00fasculo org\u00e2nico, \u00e0 medida que a cera interna derrete e se solidifica de novo. <\/p>\n<p>Estes m\u00fasculos de cera n\u00e3o s\u00e3o apenas um impressionante avan\u00e7o da nanotecnologia: eles tamb\u00e9m s\u00e3o muito mais eficientes do que os seus m\u00fasculos. Os m\u00fasculos de nanocarbono podem levantar 100.000 vezes o seu peso e gerar cerca de 85 vezes mais energia mec\u00e2nica do que m\u00fasculos de carne do mesmo tamanho. <\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, o m\u00fasculo em fios pode assumir um formato de tecido, tornando-o um material muito vers\u00e1til. Esta tecnologia talvez apare\u00e7a em rob\u00f4s e micromotores, mas n\u00e3o ir\u00e1 para seu corpo: os pesquisadores observam que os m\u00fasculos s\u00e3o \u201catualmente inadequados\u201d para substituir sua carne fraca.
