Trata-se de uma c\u00e2mera que permitir\u00e1 a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de fotometria e polarimetria com resolu\u00e7\u00e3o temporal moderal e em quatro bandas espectrais de modo simult\u00e2neo. <\/p>\n<p>Denominada Simultaneous Polarimeter and Rapid Camera in Four Bands (SPARC4), o projeto conceitual da c\u00e2mera \u00e9 realizado com apoio da FAPESP. <\/p>\n<p>Em astronomia, quando se fala de c\u00e2meras \u00f3pticas, o padr\u00e3o \u00e9 que as imagens sejam obtidas em um \u00fanico intervalo de comprimento de onda (da luz). Por obter imagens em quatro cores ao mesmo tempo e permitir medir a polariza\u00e7\u00e3o da luz, a SPARC4 ser\u00e1 \u00fanica no mundo. <\/p>\n<p>O projeto conceitual do novo instrumento foi aprovado por um comit\u00ea de especialistas do Inpe e do Laborat\u00f3rio Nacional de Astrof\u00edsica (LNA), externos \u00e0 equipe t\u00e9cnica do SPARC4. <\/p>\n<p>O instrumento dever\u00e1 ficar pronto no prazo de dois a tr\u00eas anos e ser\u00e1 instalado no telesc\u00f3pio de 1,60m do Observat\u00f3rio do Pico dos Dias, coordenado pelo LNA, em Itajub\u00e1, Minas Gerais. <\/p>\n<p>De acordo com Claudia Vilega Rodrigues, pesquisadora da Divis\u00e3o de Astrof\u00edsica do Inpe, os dados cient\u00edficos em astronomia s\u00e3o basicamente informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre a luz emitida pelos objetos de interesse \u2013 como estrelas e gal\u00e1xias \u2013 , que s\u00e3o obtidos por instrumentos acoplados a telesc\u00f3pios. <\/p>\n<p>Tamb\u00e9m chamados de \u201cmedidores de luz\u201d, esses instrumentos medem fluxo, espectro (fluxo como fun\u00e7\u00e3o do comprimento de onda), obt\u00eam imagens e medem polariza\u00e7\u00e3o, entre outras fun\u00e7\u00f5es.
