Huub van Doorne, o fundador da DAF e f\u00e3 do Buick Dynaflow, j\u00e1 tinha uma receita. <br \/>\nMotor de dois cilindros opostos, refrigerado a ar? Confere. Suspens\u00e3o traseira independente? Confere. Transmiss\u00e3o continuamente vari\u00e1vel? Confere. Rodas traseiras movidas por correias de borracha? \u201cCorreias de borracha\u201d? <br \/>\nBem vindo ao incr\u00edvel mundo da louca e maravilhosa engenharia da DAF.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"363\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/site\/userfiles\/daf2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Este \u00e9 o sistema de transmiss\u00e3o Variomatic do DAF 33, que inclui as rodas traseiras e a suspens\u00e3o independente. Cada uma das rodas traseiras tem sua pr\u00f3pria homocin\u00e9tica movida a correia. Desta forma a transmiss\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m funciona como um diferencial auto-bloqueante.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"421\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/site\/userfiles\/daf3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>O sistema foi desenvolvido por Johan van der Brugghen e \u00e9 t\u00e3o especial quanto parece, j\u00e1 que marca o in\u00edcio da transmiss\u00e3o cont\u00ednua vari\u00e1vel nos carros. \u00c9 poss\u00edvel ver os dois pares de polias entre as quais a correia de borracha \u00e9 instalada. Na posi\u00e7\u00e3o mostrada na imagem acima, a transmiss\u00e3o estaria em sua marcha mais baixa (ou quase): a polia est\u00e1 pequena no lado do eixo motriz, e grande no lado da roda (como uma bicicleta em marcha leve, lembra?). <\/p>\n<p>Na marcha mais alta seria o contr\u00e1rio: as polias do eixo motriz se aproximariam, for\u00e7ando a correia para o lado maior, de maior di\u00e2metro de volta. Ao mesmo tempo as polias das homocin\u00e9ticas se afastariam para fazer a correia girar em um di\u00e2metro de volta menor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R8AzqtomwD0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Assim o sistema era operado por fric\u00e7\u00e3o, e isso tamb\u00e9m era seu maior inconveniente: ele produzia um silvo alto durante a mudan\u00e7a das rela\u00e7\u00f5es, e as correias acabavam com folga depois de algum tempo, podendo patinar ou mesmo saltar da polia. Era muito importante fazer a substitui\u00e7\u00e3o das correias no per\u00edodo correto para n\u00e3o acabar parando na estrada sem aviso algum.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9 fant\u00e1stico.
