A dist\u00e2ncia m\u00e9dia entre uma esta\u00e7\u00e3o e outra \u00e9 de aproximadamente 300 m. A linha 14 do sistema \u00e9 completamente autom\u00e1tica, ou seja, n\u00e3o tem motorista de cabine. Um \u00fanico pre\u00e7o de passagem \u00e9 aplicado em todos os hor\u00e1rios, com conex\u00f5es ilimitadas. O \u00fanico limite \u00e9 o uso por, no m\u00e1ximo, duas horas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Linha 1 foi inaugurada em 19 de julho de 1900, ap\u00f3s d\u00e9cadas de discuss\u00f5es pol\u00edticas sobre as rotas e constru\u00e7\u00e3o. Pequenas se\u00e7\u00f5es das linhas 2 e 6 (na \u00e9poca 5) foram completadas no mesmo ano para servir a Feira Mundial.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As linhas de 1 a 10 foram constru\u00eddas pela Ville de Paris (Cidade de Paris) e administradas pela CMP (Compagnie du Chemin de Fer M\u00e9tropolitain de Paris). Acredita-se que o nome do metropolitano parisiense veio do Metropolitan Railway em Londres, que mais tarde tornou-se parte do sistema metropolitano londrino.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Uma segunda empresa, a Nord-Sud, (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 du Chemin de Fer Electrique Nord-Sud de Paris), come\u00e7ou em 1910 e construiu duas linhas nomeadas A e B (agora parte das linhas 12 e 13). A Nord-Sud juntou-se com a CMP em 1930 (a linha 11 e a &#8220;primeira linha 14&#8221; foram completadas ap\u00f3s a fus\u00e3o).
