Hidrel\u00e9tricas de m\u00e9dio porte, com 1.290 MW, lideram nesse segmento, seguidas da cogera\u00e7\u00e3o com biomassa, com 1.211 MW e pelas pequenas centrais hidrel\u00e9tricas (PCHs), com 807 MW. <br \/>\nAs atividades de MDL est\u00e3o previstas no Protocolo de Kyoto, que busca evitar ou reduzir as emiss\u00f5es de gases que provocam o aquecimento global e as mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas. Cada tonelada de g\u00e1s estufa evitada d\u00e1 direito a um cr\u00e9dito de carbono, que normalmente \u00e9 comprado por pa\u00edses desenvolvidos que t\u00eam metas obrigat\u00f3rias de redu\u00e7\u00e3o de emiss\u00f5es. <\/p>\n<p>Dos 416 projetos nacionais, 48,8% referem-se a energia renov\u00e1vel, 9% a aterro sanit\u00e1rio, 10% A troca de combust\u00edvel f\u00f3ssil e 16,1% a suinocultura, que busca evitar a libera\u00e7\u00e3o de g\u00e1s metano das lagoas de dejetos.
