Com lan\u00e7amento previsto para 2011, este ser\u00e1 o primeiro sat\u00e9lite de observa\u00e7\u00e3o da Terra desenvolvido pelo Brasil e o primeiro a utilizar a Plataforma Multimiss\u00e3o (PMM). <\/p>\n<p>Juntos, os sat\u00e9lites Amaz\u00f4nia-1 e CBERS-3 e 4 permitir\u00e3o uma cobertura completa da Terra em menos de 5 dias, tornando o Brasil aut\u00f4nomo para obten\u00e7\u00e3o de imagens em m\u00e9dia resolu\u00e7\u00e3o e eliminando o risco de descontinuidade no fornecimento desse tipo de imagem por parte de sat\u00e9lites estrangeiros. <\/p>\n<p>Hoje, por exemplo, o sat\u00e9lite americano Landsat-5, que \u00e9 utilizado na avalia\u00e7\u00e3o de desmatamento da Amaz\u00f4nia, est\u00e1 h\u00e1 mais de 22 anos no espa\u00e7o e apresenta sinais claros de degrada\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/p>\n<p>O Amaz\u00f4nia-1 \u00e9 baseado em uma plataforma nacional, denominada PMM, que ser\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m utilizada em outros sat\u00e9lites propostos para o Programa Espacial Brasileiro: o sat\u00e9lite cient\u00edfico Lattes-1, o sat\u00e9lite radar de observa\u00e7\u00e3o da Terra MAPSAR, e o sat\u00e9lite meteorol\u00f3gico de medidas de precipita\u00e7\u00e3o GPM-Br. <\/p>\n<p>Para desenvolver a PMM, o INPE contratou na ind\u00fastria nacional os subsistemas de telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es, estrutura, propuls\u00e3o e energia, cujos chamados modelos de v\u00f4o dever\u00e3o ser entregues at\u00e9 meados de 2010, para dar in\u00edcio \u00e0 etapa de integra\u00e7\u00e3o e testes do primeiro sat\u00e9lite, o Amaz\u00f4nia-1. <\/p>\n<p>Em paralelo, o INPE est\u00e1 adquirindo os componentes para a carga \u00fatil do sat\u00e9lite, que envolvem equipamentos de transmiss\u00e3o e grava\u00e7\u00e3o a bordo e uma c\u00e2mera \u00f3ptica (denominada AWFI), operando nas faixas do vis\u00edvel e do infravermelho pr\u00f3ximo, com largura de faixa imageada de 750 km, com resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de 40 m. <\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, um acordo assinado entre o Brasil, representado pelo INPE, e o Reino Unido, representado pelo Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), permitir\u00e1 incluir no Amaz\u00f4nia-1 a c\u00e2mera inglesa RALCAM-3, com resolu\u00e7\u00e3o da ordem de 10 m, que complementar\u00e1 as imagens coletadas pela AWFI. <\/p>\n<p>No final do ano de 2008, o INPE firmou contratos para aquisi\u00e7\u00e3o de mais dois componentes do Amaz\u00f4nia-1: a c\u00e2mera AWFI, contratada na ind\u00fastria nacional, e o sistema de controle e computa\u00e7\u00e3o embarcada, objeto de uma coopera\u00e7\u00e3o entre a ag\u00eancia espacial brasileira, AEB, e a ag\u00eancia espacial argentina, CONAE, contratado \u00e0 empresa argentina INVAP. <\/p>\n<p>Para este ano de 2009, o INPE espera concluir a contrata\u00e7\u00e3o dos equipamentos restantes para a carga \u00fatil do Amaz\u00f4nia-1, resolver as quest\u00f5es de interface com a c\u00e2mera inglesa RALCAM-3, e preparar os sistemas de suporte e a equipe de integra\u00e7\u00e3o e testes para o sat\u00e9lite.
